Retina India is focused on projects that not only help affected patients in getting treatments (both new and established), but also to induce research and innovation in developing new treatments within India for Indian patients.
Some of the clinical projects are the Retina India Registry project, which is focused on collating database of patients with retinal conditions. Another project is the National Retinal Diseases Prevalence Study, which is focused on seeking the precise number of Indian patients afflicted with specific retinal diseases.
We are also focused on providing validated information to those who seek such information, through various medico-social programs. The Retina India Connect program, lead by either patients or family members of patients who are well informed (for each retinal disease) provides information to other patients or family members. Hospital Outreach program helps inform hospitals, doctors and patients about the activities of Retina India. We also provide information through a Helpline, through e-groups (a common Retina India Connect, and others focused on the segment of the membership that gains most benefit, such as Parents of Retina India, Youth of Retina India, Women of Retina India, etc.)
Retina India is also focused on social aspects, with projects focused on helping visually challenged students gain benefit through the National Scribes & Readers Project (website www.seshpath.org to go live soon), Inclusive Education to help visually challenged students gain from studying in mainstream schools, etc.
